Complete renovation and expansion of the 4,300-square-foot Poquonock Fire House transformed the facility into a modern 10,500-square-foot, double three-bay station. The original building was outdated and unable to accommodate contemporary apparatus or meet the operational needs of the department, so it was completely gutted. The redesigned facility includes offices for the chief and junior officers, a training room, a workout room, a day room, public toilets, a multi-purpose assembly room with an adjoining kitchen, and a watch room designed for advanced command and control operations during emergencies. The assembly room and kitchen are also available for use by Windsor community organizations. The new addition houses the apparatus room, an equipment repair shop, and storage for boats and hovercraft, with an adjacent exterior training space located next to the parking lot.
